Northern California Photography Workshops
Whether you’re just getting started with photography or have been shooting for years, my workshops are designed to help you become more confident behind the camera. I welcome photographers of all skill levels, but these sessions are especially valuable for beginners and intermediate photographers who want to move beyond automatic settings and gain a better understanding of how their camera really works. My goal is to make photography approachable, enjoyable, and rewarding without overwhelming you with technical jargon.
Every workshop combines practical instruction with real-world experience. Rather than spending hours in a classroom, we’ll be out photographing interesting locations throughout the Bay Area where you’ll learn by doing. Together we’ll explore exposure, composition, lighting, focusing techniques, lens selection, camera settings, and creative ways to see a scene. You’ll have the opportunity to ask questions as they come up and immediately apply what you’ve learned in a supportive environment.

Modern cameras are incredibly capable, but their menus, controls, and features can feel intimidating. I’ll help demystify the technology by explaining concepts in plain language and showing you when and why to use different settings. Once you understand the relationship between shutter speed, aperture, ISO, and focus, you’ll gain the confidence to make creative decisions instead of letting the camera make them for you.
Each workshop is built around unique shooting opportunities that challenge you to think differently about photography. Depending on the session, you may photograph cityscapes, architecture, waterfronts, landscapes, street scenes, or evening light. Working in real conditions allows you to develop practical skills that simply can’t be learned by reading a manual or watching videos alone.
I intentionally keep workshop groups small so everyone receives individual attention and personalized guidance throughout the experience. Whether you’re learning the fundamentals, refining your technique, or looking for fresh creative inspiration, you’ll leave with stronger images, a better understanding of your equipment, and the confidence to continue exploring photography on your own. If you’re ready to take your photography beyond snapshots and start creating images with purpose, I’d love to have you join an upcoming workshop.
