One of my recent assignments brought me to BART’s El Cerrito del Norte Station, where I had the opportunity to photograph a recruiting campaign for the BART Police Department. Working alongside more than a dozen sworn officers and civilian staff members, we created a diverse collection of images that will support an upcoming recruitment initiative across multiple platforms. From print advertising and social media to billboards and on-train messaging displays, every image was planned with the goal of presenting an authentic look at the people who serve the Bay Area every day.
Coordinating a large group of participants in an active transit environment means balancing logistics, timing, lighting, and safety while keeping the production moving efficiently. Throughout the day, we created a variety of portraits, team photographs, and candid moments that highlighted professionalism, teamwork, and the many career opportunities available within the department. The El Cerrito del Norte station provided a dynamic backdrop that reflected the real-world environment where BART Police officers work and interact with the public.
Assignments like this are a reminder of how powerful professional photography can be in telling an organization’s story. Whether the audience is a prospective employee, a customer, or the community, authentic, well-crafted imagery creates an immediate connection that stock photography simply can’t match. It was a privilege to work with the BART Police team to help produce visual assets that will support their recruiting efforts and showcase the dedicated people behind the badge.
