Back in my softball coaching days, getting to know the parents of one the players, I struck up a conversation with a woman who told me about her brother Carl. It went something like, “yeah, he’s a pretty good guitar player, and he coaches kids, like you do.” I found out more about him, learning that he’s an extremely accomplished musician and educator, having spent many years in the band Supertramp. We coordinated a trip to Monterey to see family, but did so on a weekend where the Carl Verheyen Band was playing a public show in Sand City.
