It was just before COVID hit, early March of 2020. The warnings were there, and I feel that people were mostly being careful. I felt OK about shooting outdoors, and I had observed a traveling carnival set up near the estuary where I frequently go cycling. My friend Dan, a very talented photographer, had talked about light painting and long exposures, this was a great opportunity to do just that. Lots of variables in play at any given time: the rate of the lights flashing on and off, the rate of revolution of the ride itself, and of course camera settings.
